How we decide what is worth your evening
OperaAtlas exists to send you toward performances and places worth remembering. These are the principles that govern every recommendation we make.
Last updated: September 2026
The performance comes first
Everything on OperaAtlas begins with the culture — the opera, the ballet, the concert — and the artists who make it. The journey around a performance is composed in service of that evening, never the other way around. We recommend a hotel or a table because it makes the night better, not because it fills a page.
We check against official sources
Dates, venues, programmes and practical details are drawn from official sources — principally the Arena di Verona and the institutions themselves. Where something has not yet been announced or confirmed, we say so plainly rather than filling the gap. You will see honest labels such as “Cast coming soon” and “2027 availability awaiting release” in exactly the places where that is the truth.
How imagery is handled
OperaAtlas treats imagery as part of the editorial record, not as decoration without provenance. We work with three clear categories: Original imagery made by OperaAtlas or a contributor, Partner imagery supplied under an explicit licence or permission, and Editorial illustrations created to express the mood of a recommendation when licensed documentary photography is not yet available.
Editorial illustrations are labelled on the site and are never intended to imply that they are photographs of the named production, hotel, restaurant or venue. When authorised photography becomes available, we can replace the illustration while preserving the recommendation and its editorial context.
Commercial relationships do not buy ranking
No provider can pay to be recommended, to rank higher, or to appear more favourably. Our editorial judgement is not for sale. If a commercial relationship ever exists behind a link, it will be disclosed — and it will still have had no bearing on whether we chose to recommend that provider in the first place.
We do not invent
OperaAtlas does not fabricate availability, room rates, restaurant reservations, casting, ticket prices or partnerships. If we cannot verify something, we do not present it as fact. When a detail can only be confirmed by the provider, we send you to the provider.
Recommendations are editorial judgement
Our selections are made the way a trusted friend with taste would make them — chosen for how an evening feels, not ranked by price or popularity. They are opinions, offered in good faith, and shaped by the character of each performance and place.
Always reconfirm before you travel
Schedules, opening hours, availability and prices change. Before you book travel or commit to plans, reconfirm every date and practical detail directly with the official provider. OperaAtlas points the way; the provider holds the current truth.
