Accessibility

An evening everyone should be able to reach

OperaAtlas is working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing commitment, not a finished box.

Last updated: September 2026

What we are building toward

We design and test OperaAtlas with the following in mind, and continue to refine each as the site grows:

  • Keyboard navigation — every interactive element is reachable and operable without a mouse.
  • Visible focus — a clear focus indicator shows where you are as you move through the page.
  • Colour contrast — text and essential controls are held to AA contrast on both light and dark surfaces.
  • Descriptive image text — meaningful images carry alternative text; decorative ones are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Reduced-motion support — if your device requests reduced motion, animations and transitions are minimised.
  • Accessible modals — dialogs trap focus, close with the Escape key, and return focus to the control that opened them.

Where we still have work to do

Full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance is a target we are actively working toward rather than a claim of completion. If you encounter a barrier, it helps us to know.
